Cultivating Confidence and Embrace Change in Business
Making changes in your business often requires courage, consideration & introspection.
In life and business, you must make choices, and sometimes, it’s easier to stay on a path simply because it works and fulfils you. However, this comfort can lead to a place where you stop cultivating confidence. You may feel content and grateful for what you have, and the fear of disrupting the status quo can keep you from exploring new growth opportunities.
Since launching KVDB and “The Wise Why” podcast, I have learned that growing sometimes means letting go of routines and embracing new opportunities that align with my evolving goals. Embracing this helped me navigate a recent sticking point in KVDB’s marketing strategy and led me to create a new Livestream series, “Cultivating Confidence”, with Gill Gayk.
Realising When It Is Time for Change
The “Wise Why” podcast has been vital to my marketing strategy. It has helped guests increase their confidence on camera, boost their online presence, and share their business and life stories. I love hosting the show. It has been fulfilling and enriching in ways I could not have anticipated. I have increased my knowledge of storytelling and business and mastered the art of showcasing my guests.
However, I was stuck when Gill Gayk and I started discussing how to use “The Wise Why” to promote our in-person workshop “Jump Start Your Business”. As much as I wanted to find a way to integrate the two projects, I realised that “The Wise Why” had a specific focus: interviewing guests and amplifying their stories. Trying to shoehorn “Jump Start Your Business” into “The Wise Why” format was not authentic; it felt clunky and awkward like I was trying to squish the wrong piece of a jigsaw into a puzzle.
That moment of realisation was both frustrating and liberating. I realised I had become comfortable with the “The Wise Why” routine and stopped pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Gill and I wanted to do something live to showcase our partnerships and what people could expect when they worked with us. These considerations forced me to pause and reconsider where and how I wanted to focus my energy.
The Challenges of Routine
I pondered the impact of routine on my business and realised its dual nature. While consistency can lead to success by establishing a regular schedule for viewers, it can also limit flexibility. I observed that the fixed timing of my live stream on Friday mornings at 9:30 am was not convenient for all guests, especially those in different time zones.
This rigidity caused stress when last-minute changes led to cancellations, leaving me feeling like I was letting my audience down. However, I didn’t want to stop offering “The Wise Why” as it was crucial to my strategy.
After re-evaluating my schedule and mindset, I found a solution: I discussed the idea with Gill and I am pleased to introduce”Cultivating Confidence with Gill and Kirsty”,
“Cultivating Confidence”
Confidence is at the heart of every successful business, and Gill and I want to provide a space for honest, open conversations about how to build and sustain it.
“Cultivating Confidence” allows Gill and me to explore topics that deeply resonate with us and those who connect with our experiences. It’s a space where we reflect on our insights, share lessons learned, and engage in meaningful conversations about confidence in life and business.
Gill Gayk will bring her expertise in business and life, using positive psychology and goal mapping to help others strategically plan for success. Meanwhile, I will share my experiences as a public speaker, on-camera coach, and communication strategist, offering guidance on captivating your audience and building a strong online presence.
Together, we provide valuable insights on confidence designed to inspire and empower you personally and professionally.
The Power of Adaptability
Ultimately, by trying to fit something into an established podcast series has been an excellent reminder for me of the power of adaptability in business. Getting stuck in a routine is easy, but sometimes to achieve growth, we must step back and ask ourselves the tough questions:
- Is this still serving me?
- Is this still aligned with my goals?
If the answer is no, give yourself permission to pivot and change.
‘The art of life lies in a constant readjustment to our surroundings.’
~Okakura Kakuzo
Launching “Cultivating Confidence” reflects that pivot—recognising that my business and goals are evolving. It is a chance to explore new territory while staying true to the core values that have always driven me: authenticity, confidence, harmony, inspiration, empowerment, vision, and enthusiasm—all essential to helping others achieve their personal and business goals.
